August 28th, 2012 Des Moines real estate transactions closed hits the 6,000 mark. This also results in the largest spread between 2011 and 2012 closed transactions at 1,079. 2011 Des Moines Area Association of REALTORS closed 7,790 transactions. 8 1/2 months into 2012 and with 5625 closed transactions we are officially 1,000 sales ahead of the same time last year! In another sign of real estate recovery in the Des Moines market, the Des Moines Area Association of REALTORS recorded closed transactions hit 5,393 year to date. That number represents an increase of 915 closed sales ahead of last year or an increase of over 20%. Even with seven days in excess of 100 degrees and an average daily temperature of 96 degrees for the month of July, Des Moines real estate sales continue to outpace 2011.
