How To Refresh Your Listing On The Internet

Spring is knocking on our door and this coming weekend, we will be springing our clocks forward!  It’s a good time to start some spring cleaning of your listings.

One of the easiest things you can do to update your listing is to change the public remarks.  Did you know that your public remarks are indexed by internet search engines?  Try this simple experiment.  Log into the MLS and pull up one of your listings.  Read through the public remarks and pick out some key words.  For example: Des Moines 2 bath ranch located in quiet SW neighborhood.  Enter this phrase into Google or Bing and see what listing appears.  Odds are that 4211 SW 12th Street will be the first result in the search engines.

If your home doesn’t have any descriptive comments in the remarks, it may be time to update the Public Remarks.  Be sure to use phrases that describe the property or neighborhood.  You never know where your next buyer is going to come from!

While you are at it, how about updating your exterior photo of the home!  Especially if the last exterior picture is from one of our heavy snow days!  There’s a saying that even a broken watch is right two times a day…. If your home has three feet of snow in the front yard, your potential buyer will subliminally believe that this home has been on the market all winter.
