Every day for the past 6 years, I record market data points from the MLS. One of these points is the number of homes currently under contract, (also known as Pending Sales).
Today, April 9th, the Des Moines Area Association of REALTORS® MLS recorded 2,334 homes under contract waiting to close. At no time since at least January 1st, 2009 have we had this many homes Pending and waiting to close. This number may not seem very high, but it represents almost 70% of our current Active (For Sale) inventory.
