Washington DC NAR Mid Year Meetings

IMAG0143

I’m writing this while sitting in the Chicago O’Hare airport waiting for my final leg of my flight home.  I spent the week in Washington DC attending NAR’s Mid Year Meetings.  As president of DMAAR, I get to represent Des Moines at our Capital Hill legislative visits, attend business forums and hear some excellent speakers.  In the next several days you will be hearing about the results of the proposed dues increase by NAR.  Additionally, two other “big” issues came up while in the nations capital.  One of these issues involved IDX display of listings on national franchise websites such as Coldwell Banker, RE/MAX and Century21.  The other issue is a lawsuit and proposed settlement negotiated by NAR regarding a patent infringement suit by a company named Civix.  They hold a patent on an internet search process that literally every MLS and real estate website uses across the country.  I will be sharing my thoughts on these three topics in my monthly newsletter that will be published in the next couple of days.

In the meantime, here are a couple of blogs that I am following and that will give you a head start on these three major topics.

There are many MANY other blogs out right now of these topics, so if you want to do some searching on your own in Google, just enter any of the following words into Google and search.  WARNING… your blood pressure may rise after reading some of these other blogs… don’t say I didn’t warn you!

Search  “RPPSI” or “NAR Political Survival” or “NAR IDX” or “NAR Civix lawsuit” and you’ll be set for the night!
